Cancellation and replacement offers for some revision courses
Unfortunately, the search for and hiring (according to the new guidelines for student assistants) of tutors is much more difficult than usual this semester. We were able to find tutors for some modules again this semester, but not for others. We are currently trying to see if we can still organize revision courses for some modules or find alternative offers.
Revision Courses
Would you like to prepare for the second exam in a module? We offer revision courses for various lectures in which students who already know the module, can repeat the material from the semester in the form of tutorials.
If you have any questions, please take a look at the FAQs below or contact us.
Summer semester 2024
Mathematics II for Physicists
- Dates:
18, 19, 23, 24, & 25 Sept at 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
20 Sept at 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Place:
lecture hall, HISKP (room 0.023)
Theoretical Physics I
Unfortunately, we were unable to hire a tutor for Theoretical Physics I this semester. However, we can offer two voluntary substitute courses as compensation. These will take place on the following dates:
- Dates:
11 & 12 Sept from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Location:
lecture hall, HISKP (room 0.023)
These substitute offers do not include the full scope and preparation of a real revision course, but are intended to help students who have had major difficulties with the content and to act as a contact point for questions and are held by unpaid tutors.
Theoretical Physics III
- Dates:
16, 17, 23, 24, 25 & 27 Sept at 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Place:
lecture hall, PI (room 2.006)
Experimental Physics II
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we have been unable to find a tutor for Experimental Physics II. We are currently trying to offer a replacement. Further information will follow.
Experimental Physics IV
It is currently still uncertain whether we will be able to offer a revision course or a substitute offer in Experimental Physics IV. Further information will follow.
FAQ
Yes. The revision courses are an offer from the Fachschafts' Council Physics/Astronomy to help you with your preparation for the second exams.
We try to cover many of the Bachelor's modules, especially Mathematics for Physicists I-III, Experimental Physics I - V and Theoretical Physics I - IV. We also try to find tutors for the Master's module Advanced Quantum Theory. Unfortunately, we can't always find enough tutors to cover all subjects.
We can't always find tutors for all subjects, which is why there may be no revision course for some modules. If you are still looking for help, you can take a look at the tutoring lists.
The offer is organized by the Fachschafts' Council Physics/Astronomy. Within the Fachschafts' Council, there is the elected committee for revision courses, which is responsible for organizing the courses.
The courses are held by students who are already more familiar with the subject matter of the relevant module.
In principle, anyone who passed the module at least one year ago can give a revision course. However, preference is given to people who have tutored the module themselves during the semester and are therefore familiar with the style of the current lecturer.
Don't hesitate to contact the Fachschafts' Council Physics/Astronomy.
Yes, if a person takes on a revision course, they will be paid accordingly. In general, we employ tutors for 36 hours, the money comes from the department's quality improvement funds (QV funds).
Important note: Unfortunately, we cannot employ students who have a permanent position at the university (especially doctoral students, in some cases Master's students). Please write to us anyway, perhaps we can find an alternative.
The individual dates have different syllabi that cover different topics of the respective lecture. Depending on the tutor, it is also possible that individual tutorial dates (like the lectures) build on each other. It is therefore advisable to attend all of them if possible.
